How Can I Quiet Down my Tank? Please Help Me!!!

Help, my tank has been running for about 2 weeks now, but it is just to loud. Luckily it is not the overflows, its actually the vibration from the external pumps on the wood base I think. Can I just put some sort of foam in between and solve this problem, or are their any other ways to fix it, my neighbor upstairs told me this morning he could hear a low humming... Please Help Thanks, Justin

You can use a piece of that foamy/rubbery ergonomic stuff from a computer shop. It goes in front of your computer keyboard and is supposed to help with carpal tunnel syndrome.
Cut a piece of that, or something similar and put the pump on it.
Buy some dimpled foam matting that goes on top of a bed mattress and cut to shape for the ******** of your stand. I did this, it was great.
A Recent example that someone posted earlier:

These two things bring the sound down a lot.

It sounds like a great idea, but do you have to replace the foam often? I mean due to the moisture in the cabinet, it seems like maybe the foam would get damp and maybe even smell after a while?

Mine never smelled or got real damp. I had it going a couple years and then gave it to a friend before I moved to New York and got a different tank altogether. He still has the tank and has never told me that he replaced it.
But if need be, it would be cheap to do so.

Is it the pump making the noise or vibration or raddling due to the pump's contact with the wood? If the later, just cushion the pump. Try using some towels under the pomp to see if the noise is dampened, and, if so, take it from there.
