I set my tank up. I scrubbed my rock that was dry for 5 years. i put the rock in the tank and now have shoots of caulerpa showing up. how can this be? what 5 years dry doesn't kill this stuff.

Bryopsis pennata is a small feather alga often found in the reef flat community.
I had some feather looking algae and thought it was young shoots of caulerpa.

Fahahahaha! Points for the Dune reference. Wonder what ever happened to the kid who played Alia in the David Lynch film?

Morgan, have you added any fish like a tang that may have eaten the algae you now see growing? Many algae can make the trip though a fish to start growing in your tank.
