how can u tell if LR is cured?

i bought 2 large pieces of live rock from my LFS and they guys said one of them seems cured and the other may have to be placed into a seperate tank for a while or it will cause an amonia spike. i saw him smell the rocks to determine which one will be ok to put in my main tank now but i didnt remember which piece it was. i smelled the rocks and one smells a little fishier than the other. which one is the cured rock? the smellier one? or the less smelly one? please help. they are both in a seperate tank right now.

the one that smells fishy is not cured....or not completely cured....do a search for threads that tell you the procedure on curing lr. im sure there are many different ideas out there for you to decide which one fits you

You'll know it when you smell it. You can also leave it in a bucket and test the water.

yes. if its not cured it stinks! sorta like eggs, i blamed someone for letting a fart in the lfs i was in but it was the uncured live rock!

when i got my cured live rock it smelled like the ocean.
