How can you tell for sure if your bubble coral is toast?

My doggone clarkei clown decided my bubble coral would make a good host. Unfortunately the coral didn't enjoy his company and now has no 'bubbles' left. Of course the clown leaves it alone now but is there a way of telling if it might make a comeback or does the fact that the bubbles are all gone and it's left with almost an exoskeleton looking surface mean it's history?

Yeah I agree with kip. No flesh at all is a bad sign. However, if there is some left, don't give up. I had a pearl bubble that almost completely receded inside its skeleton. Its making a great comeback, and is looking beautiful now. Knock on wood. Just give it the right light, keep the water nice, and they tend to be very hardy. Now, I have a green metallic bubble that has always done well. Even when it was shrunk up during some problems it looked better than the pearl. But, now, after getting things back in order, they are both doing well. Don't give up, unless there is no actual coral left.

Hi guys!
Mine withdraws when it is moved or otherwise pissed. Comes back everytime though.
Any idea why my white bubble coral would turn tan? I actually saw another tank and its owner mentioned having a white one and it was also tan. What happened?
