How did I totally lose a flame angel?

My angel is MIA. It was out last night, eating and doing fine, and now it is gone. I checked all around the tank, took almost all of my rocks out (I've been wanting to rearrange my rocks for quite some time anyway) and I cannot find it. It was a pretty large flame angel too. My cleanup crew is on the small side right now so I'm worried about an ammonia spike if it is still in there. Has anyone else had a fish totally disappear like this?

what else is in the tank? do you see a pile of bones or something aywhere... the only thing i know that can decimate a large fish quickly would be a mantis or an carpet anemone.

If it is in my tank and I don't have an adequate cleanup crew how much of an ammonia spike can I expect?

Have you check around your tank??? It's kinda fast for a large fish like that to disappear completely so quick!!!

Is there a lid on your tank? Did the fishy jump out to his death, and did the cat eat em up after he jumped? All hypothetic of course. Oops, didn't answer your question about ammonia. 75g tank, how big was the angel, and how big is your clean up crew, all crutial to answer your question, but to guess here, because I have had this happen, is minimal spike, my clean up crew did finish off the job in a few days. Don't ask how I know.

In a 75G, if it's dead in there then the spike shouldn't be too bad. And you'd be surprised how effeceint even a small clean up crew can be.

About 5 months. I love the color he added to the tank, but he was one mean SOB though. I probably won't get another one for that reason.

lemonpeels are my favorite fish

unless there's more than one yellow fish in the tank, there's such a thing as too much yellow

I like those too, but I already have a YT in there. I want something else red, but I haven't seen many red fish, except hawkfish and I have shrimp so that's out.

Sorry about your loss. I lost my flame angel too. Acclimated for 3 1/2 hours and it was eating romaine lettuce and mysis shrimp. 3 days later I come home from work to find it at the bottom of my tank. Fish cost my $63.00
