I was trying out my snorkle and mask that I picked up in target today and they wont stop fogging up. There brand new and they were wet before I used them. I want to make sure they work well before my trip. Any tips from divers/snorkelers?
Thanks

So when I go snorkeling just keep them out in the sun a little before I put them on? should they be wet or not?
Thanks

The absolute best thing in the world is actually your own saliva. Spit in the mask, rub it around, then give it a quick dunk in the water.
First thing they teach you in SCUBA lessons...

hmm I'll give it a try thanks. Im assuming its salt water you dunk it in right.
This better not be some joke to get me to spit on my goggles then put it on my face

Works equally well in salt, fresh or chlorinated water

They do make an anti-fog spray that's just a touch or two better then spit that I use (No Fog, or Zero Fog or some name...).
However the best thing I do is let in a bit of water into the goggles themselves. Obviously not enough to get in your eyes, just a tiny bit that will sit in the corner and when your goggles fog, you just tilt your head down and roll the water around to clear the fog...

+1 spit or they do make a little bottle of stuff y ou can shoot onto the lens but spilt works just fine! fresh or saltwater makes no difference

Yep, exactly. I go airsofting which requires goggles as you might guess, and that seems to work the best besides buying anti-fog spray for $7 and ounce.lol. anyhow try what you want and go with what works best.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll try the spit thing and keep some water in the goggles just incase. I have to see if I have anymore antifog for my paintball mask, wasn't sure if I could use it thanks.

i have always used a little baby oil. Just put some in and smear it around over the lens then just rinse it out.

I lke the de fog drops you get from any dive shop.
But I've always wondered if Rain-X's fog-x would work...

course crap like that is prolly why I'm sitting here with a big nasty sty in my eye!

Looks likes spots the way to go! Anybody ever try a thin layer of hard hand soap
Suggest against it. Whatever you use has to be at least semi-safe with your eyes, if water was to get in, mix up with the soap, then into your eyes, be slightly uncomfortable
.
If it's your first time or two, you're going have the goggles probably off more then on. Nose gonna get irritated by the saltwater, etc...

They sell anti-fog drops at most scuba shops. You put one or two drops on each lense, rub the drops in, dip the mask in the water, and you're good to go.
On our trip to Cancun, they offered free Try Scuba classes in the hotel swimming pool. My wife and kids went to it, and they said the instructor was using Palmolive Dish Soap on the goggles. She put a few drops in, had them rub it in, dunked them in the water a couple of times, and they were good to go. She said the secret was to NOT touch the lenses after rubbing the soap on. They swam in the pool underwater for around 10 minutes, and had no problems at all.
