How do frogspawn grow?

Ok I had a large frogspawn with about 12 heads. My tank went a little crazy for a few days, and once I got it back under control I lost all but two heads. I wana cut off the dead portion of the skeleton, because its huge, but wanted to know if I should. Do they grow back? How do they spread? Should I leave it alone? Any suggestions

If it's a branching frogspawn (google it) you can just snap/cut off a branch with no fear of hurting another head.
If it's the 'wall' type then it may be a bit more difficult cause you'll probably need a power tool and there is a little risk that way.

Make sure you calcium, alkalinity and magnesium are all in the normal range too. Will help with growth.
