How do I locate RO water in the grocery store?

Ok....head to the bottled water section.. ya that much I came up with.
But, is it specially labeled "RO"? Is it labeled Reverse osmosis?
Is it the same as distilled water? If I went to safeway or albersons what exactly would I look for?

Read the bottle.
RO is one of the most extreme purification methods.
Companies that perform it like to crow about it. There will usually be some reference that names it directly "reverse osmosis" as one of thier methods.
Keep in mind for the price it costs to buy a single fill up for a larger tank, you could plumb in an entire new system in your home.

Remember to read the small print! Some drinking water will say its undergone R.O. filtration, and somewhere else on the label say something about minerals added for taste.

In my store the "RO water" comes from a large machine , I use 5gal jugs that fit into the machine and I only pay 1.25 for the whole 5gal jug. Its not a bad way to go

I think I may have seen those in Walmart. The water vendor in the back of the store right?

For Nano systems its wonderful. Perhaps inconvenient sometimes but otherwise no issues.
For larger tanks it just is not practical to try and cart hundreds of gallons home.
A nice RO home system is easy to plumb and pays for itself with convenience.

I was doing the same thing till about a month ago and noticed that i had gotten a real bad brown slime algea bloom and when i tested my water the phos was at 2.0 ppm. you have to be careful with those store systems b/c you never know when the last time the machines were worked on. now i get my r/o from a LFS and it is only .39 per gal. its worth the extra .14 cents to make sure that i am getting true pure R/O.

I forgot one other thing, I forgot to fill my top off before the holiday and when I remembered about it I was almost out of water and the LFS so I figured that I would just go get 2 gals from the machines at K-mart up the road. Boy was that a mistake I added the fresh water at about 2pm that day and by the next morning i noticed that the algea was returning. I never use those machines again its not worth the headache.

i was looking on that big auction site - u know the one - and i found brand new 3 canister units for $83.50 with free shipping. i talked my wife into buying for me as christmas gift.
i have been using tap since the begining and i have struggled with algae and a dirty looking tank FOREVER! i cant wait to get it to see if there will be a noticable difference. it says it makes 100.gpd and comes with all the plumbing u need to get started. also my scrubber is loading up on algae growth and i have cleaned it three times now and my chaeto for my sump should be here 2morrow. i think things should really start to improve in the next couple months. i am stoked!
