I just recently got a 10000k bulb for my tank. I only have a 24 inch strip that can hold only one bulb. How do I go about customizing my light? Do I have to buy a whole new custom made hood and light strip? Or can I buy a kit to upgrade this? Do they make kits to turn your one light ballast into a ballast to house numerous lights by using shorter bulbs??? What are some of my options?

There isn't really any set rule for this. You can be as creative as you want. I trashed the set up that came with mine and made a whole new canopy from scratch. If you look around at other's homepages, you will find some good ideas.
Obviously, a hood already custom made will cost a lot more than doing it yourself. Good luck to you.
