I'm only 5'7 and don't have orangutan arms... how am I going to do the aquascape in my new tank? I'd basically have to climb into the tank to lay rocks? I'm probably going to in a neck brace before I've got all of that done.
Our SWF sand came in on Friday, have another 80lbs of sand to go in too, 200+lbs of LR... still need to cure about 60lbs that I'll put in later (Tonga Shelf rocks).
How do you short people do deep tanks?

tall step ladder and one of those grabbing tools.
I did my orig aqua scape with the canopy off. Rescaped with it on, but the base rock was already there so it wasnt as bad.

I knew my options weren't all that great. Too bad my twins are still too young to help me with this. I might try to get hubby to lay out the bottom rocks. This ain't gonna be pretty! At least the water goes in tomorrow, so I might just have to climb in the tank myself. UGH!

The canopy is too tall and difficult to get off with just 2 people. We had 3 putting it on...
FUN!

My shirts have 39" sleeves so I guess I do have Orangutan arms and I still have a lot of trouble.
Get yourself some Piksytix. They're grip extenders which will work with most smaller items, whether they're rocks, clams or corals. For the really large rocks I did it this way:
Make a rock shelf out of PVC, see:
http://www.millcovefarm.com/Millcove...struction.html
You can either keep the PVC in place to build caves or just use it as a waypoint on a rock's trip to the bottom. I have a few really heavy rocks I'd put on the PVC shelf by hand. From there I used slings made from nylon cord. Once the rock was in place I'd remove the slings.

I like the snorkel and mask option ~ be sure and get pics ~ so we can all laugh with you of course
.
I have a little longer arms then you do, but I just stood on a step ladder, stuck my head and shoulders through the hood, and kind of layed on the top of the tank. Good luck!

Guys! I was hoping one of you would have offered to come and help with the hard labor

And no.. there will be no picks of me b.u.t.t. in the air layering rocks.

if i lived anywhere near there I would be right over. At 3000 miles x 4.35 a gallon I would be flat broke (ok well maybe not, but it would feel like it)

Well, if you're buying the plane ticket, I'll consider
. Wasn't looking for pics of the b.u.t.t., just want to see pics of you hanging upside down inside that tank
or even better, sitting inside of it

Hey spidey!! These are awesome and very strong! I'm 5'2" going into a 29 incher. I can't get anywhere near the bottom, lol.

As an extra kicker, I got stuck with a bunch of tonga branch! I just put it all on one side, lol. It's actually a nice aquascape in person.

Tizzo, I got that same exact tongs a few weeks ago. Are they truly strong enough to put a rock down the bottom and it not slip from the grabs?
