A bunch of suckers if you ask me.. the ball was in our side of the field the whole second half.. it was so pitiful and sorry.. believe me..they looked really really fatigued.. Is this the best we have to offer out of 350,000,000 people? Sorry just had to rant im so pissed and I hate the Brazilians elitist outlook on soccer..
Our goalie did EVERYTHING RIGHT and DID HIS BEST, so many saves.. Poor guy..

Ya, Howard did a great job. The announcers kept mentioning he'd have to have a great game if the US wanted to win. I thought he did, and two goals so early seemed very promising. But after watching the Spain v South Africa game I knew half-time was way too early to declare victory.

Hi there,
Two things;
1.) The previos game was a though one, that could have played a role in fatigue.
2.) The idea os a soccer player in the states is recent. There is hardly any money (incentive) for the players. Wait till the game reaches popularity like in other countries and it will be similar to BB, BB and FB. Where there is money there are players. Pay them and they will come. Also note that you have to understand that soccer is a religion in Brazil, where everyone is a member of the congregation.

i guess if you call the last 20 years recent... there is NO way soccer will reach the popularity of the afore mentioned sports... any bame that can be played for 90 min and end in a zero - zero tie will not get watched or mainstream support...

Then what sets us apart from the rest of the world. Many other countries as previously mentioned consider soccer as a religion of sorts and it already has a global support so what makes it imposible to gain mainstream support here?
I do agree though it would be nice to have more scoring in the games.

I'll tell you exactly why we suck at soccer . Because as a nation we are lazy and only put in effort if we are going to make the $$$ . Countries like Brazil are very poor nations and children actually go out side and play things like soccer. Most of the teams that dominate have players that grew up playing soccer all day long, not just after school and weekends .

Are you saying that Americans who follow soccer or lacrosse are all yuppy capricious fad following snobs?
The USA national team arn't even a bad team at soccer. The United States is ranked 14th in the world and they are the current champions of the Gold Cup tournement.

For the most part, but in soccer either that or have latin or foreign roots.
All lacrosse is, is a good way to screw up the football field during the off season.

To be honest with you I do not know when soccer began here in the states. I know it was recent when they started MLS. Meaning there is no support for it yet, not enough people to fill the stands. I for one grew up in soccer. It was soccer this soccer that, but here it is just baseball, fottball or basketball. From what I remember all the young kids used to go out on the streets and play soccer all day long. He in elementary or junior high, I don not remember anyone playing soccer. It wasn't till early ninety's that people started to gether around the school grounds to play soccer. The people were grown adults and most mexicans, I do not recall seeing any other race play at all. I would say that shows that it is not very popular. If it is not popular, than there is no money yo pay the players. There is no money to play the players, there is no interest from athletes and if there is no interest from the atheletes it will not be popular.

I think that sport are part of the culture that defines the different nations. It's not that soccer could not be fun or nteresting enough to watch, it's just that it not part of the country. Take baseball, I for one say how and the hell is it fun to watch a guy throw a ball at a guy, and watch the guy to see if he will hit. If he does hit, than we have to watch hi run around four things called bases. I think it's just what took place as part of the image of the individual counties. For atheltes to get involve in a sport there has to be some type of incentive to lure them in.
