Ive just bought lr myself and asked the same thing a few days ago. 'lr help' i believe was the subject. anyway from what ive gathered you need to add trace elements and will also need to keep an eye on the calcium level. I believe it helps the coralline algae growth.

good circulation, calciun, trace elements and if you have feather dusters, etc growing on it, some food for the filter feeders.
Don't forget good lighting to help the coralline grow!

keeping good water circulation going to help keep the rock clean. also one thing that helps i take a turkey baster and blast some of the rock before i do a water change to help get rid of some of the extra junk on it. only takes a minute to do this. there are different colors of coraline and they grow in diff levels of light. seems like the purples grow in higher light, in lower light areas we are getting burgandy, white, and green. a good calcium and alk level helps the coraline grow.
