How exactly are fish and corals caught??

Some countries allow harvesting as it is a main income for many locals. While other countries make it illegal it sometime still makes it to the black market. Some countries have areas that are harvested for a period of time and then allowed to recover for years before being harvested again. There are those out there that believe that between divers and hobbist (we), are slowly depleting reefs where there will be nothing left for those in the future. Some countries are setting up funds and teaching locals to culture and propagrate corals in an effort to lessen the blow on there reef system and to tank raise the most popular fish types (clowns, seahorses, etc.) Although countries have these laws they are not always able to monitor totally. The United States has laws in place that prevent some types of exotics form being brought into the country. HTH
