I was thinking of getting a blue hippo tang, knowing i would need to upgrade to a large tang within a year, which im planning on anyway, im curious to how fast these tend to grow within that year if i purchased one that was around an inch or smaller? Thanks!

what size tank are you going to start the hippo out in??? these fish tend to get stressed which makes the sesceptable to ich... commonly refered to around here as "ich magnets"...
how fst will it grow: depends on water quality and how much/often you feed them...

Bought mine the size of a quarter. Year and a half later and it is now 4.5 inches. It is in a 90. Will be moved to the larger tank in a few months. They are beautiful fish, but definitely an "ich magnet".

smaller tangs need to be feed more than larger tangs and that could put a strane on your biofilter, what size is your tank now

I have a 5" I picked up for $50. I'd wait for a larger one if I were you. With a larger one you can be a little more certain of it's hardiness since it's lived long enough to obtain it's size.

i purchased one 4" for 69$.and the place is pretty reputable in louisiana. it's a club that just sells saltwater fish. unlike pet co. i would never buy a fish from pet co. they stick these highschoolers with no clue of what they are talking about.
