How fast do snails grow?

In my 40 gal I have a few snails and it looks like they have about doubled in size in the last week or so. Around about the same time that a nice crop of brown alge started. Is this because they had so much to munch on?

Dont see 2x size in a week...but, my turbos are 2-3x bigger in a year.

I'm sure I am exageratting but sure seems like they have gotten huge!

their shells grows too? or are they like hermits, switching shells?

The shell grows with snails. Then they die or get eaten and the shells go to hermits. It makes a great balance.
