After struggeling for years with a majano problem I made the decision to either really jump in and get aggressive getting rid of them, or dismantle my 225 gallon reef tank. So decided to get tough and dive in....
First I bought a "Majano Wand" that I read about, second got a big jar of kalkwasser and third decided to toss alot of LR.
I took out the big rocks that were covered the most and just tossed them in a bucket. I have probably 300-400 lbs of LR so it wasn't a big deal. Next turned off the pumps and where there were clusters of majanos a poured kalkwasser paste all over them and let them sit for an hour or so. The next day I started in on the remaining majanos with the wand.
Did all this a couple of weeks ago, I check all around the tank daily for new ones popping up and use the wand on them. Have not seen any new ones for a couple of days now, but with the wand I feel I can win this battle and have my beautiful reef tank back!
