I have a 65 gallon tank that I recently finished building a stand for. I have protein skimmer, power heads, heater, but no water or sand yet. I've been reading on here for probably about 6 months taking in all info I can (excellent site) My tank is on the main floor and the original plan was to build a refuge in the basement and set it up much like the ecosystem brand i"ve been reading about, however, I had to spend a great deal on cash on my dog recently. My question would be, would an ehieim 2028 canister filter do a sufficient job or should I wait until money lets me put in refuge, pump, lighting, pretty much all the goodies associated with a fuge. My friend will give me the canister filter , no charge.
