How long before life can return to the tank?

Sadly in the last 2 weeks I have lost 8 out of 11 fish to who knows what. I think a little ich, bacteria maybe brooklynella.
3 1/2 years without any problems and then BAM just about my whole tank is dead. How long do you think I should let the tank and few inhabitants I have left be until I add any fish? I will QT them of course. I was thinking maybe 2 months or should it be longer?

Well, since you are not sure what you were dealing with, I would say 2 mos without fish would be good.
