how long can purple tang live in sump?

how long?? I had to take him out.... because I think
I was overstocked... but no one wants to buy him..
super great healthy had him for 2 years....
he is in sump right now... really hard to catch him.. I had to
rerange my rocks... how long can he live in there??
my sump isnt that big... good move?

I'm in the Cleveland the area. I am actually upgrading to a 125 gallon this month and a Purple Tang is sort of my list of fish to get.
Mebbe I will check in with you to see if you still have him when I have adequate space for him if you wanna get rid of him.
Right now I only have a 55 gallon and 15 Hospital (
How big is the Purple? Can he make it in a 55 if he is the only fish until my 125 is established and stocked?

my purple tang is 3"-4"
not too big.. smallest fish in my tank...
my sump is 20gallon with stuff in there.. it is not even
10 gallon.. no lighting....
my lfs wont take him.. they said there is no room for him..
