i'v got the right amount of light and my tank has been sit up for about 4 weeks. I put in a clownfish and it seems to be doing fine, and all my specs. are currect. My pet store told me to stay away from fish that weren't hardy for awhile so my tank can settle so do i have to wait awhile before adding an anemone?

Tank needs to mature. The water perimeters need to be stable. They are filter feeders so need the mature tank to assist in feeding. We and many others hand feed ours as well. Anemones don't handle stress very well(ammonia, nitrate, etc.)
Just give yourself and your tank time to level out and stay level, grow, mature, and then add.
BTW, what type of lighting do you have?

You may get by with it being at the top most part of your tank that it can be at ... They move around, and thats a problem ... You may get away with a Rock Anemone or Hawaiin Pink Tip, the cheaper kinds, but that would be it.
They need extremely strong lighting, such as Metal Halides.
And big hint hint ... Your LFS will not always speak the truth.

It's not so the tank can settle... It's so the tank can CYCLE.
The moron at your local fish store managed to sell you a hardy specimen so that it wont die during your cycle. With that being said, your fish will experiance (unneccessarily) a stressful roller coaster ride until your tank stablizes.
As far as an anemone goes, if you have to get one, and it sounds like you will, get a condy.
Local fish store guys are ONLY interested in the money!! If you don't believe me, do research on ANY area regarding salt water fish, then go to your LFS and evaluate the conditions that the fish and inverts are kept in. As far as your lighting, I will have to agree with Aaron C, I don't believe that you have enough lighting to sustain an anemone.

Thanks Tizzo ... We are not trying to sound mean Hiddenicon, but anemone's just need TONS of lighting, and its just not a good idea. I have the Coralife Aqualight PC 130 Watts, and my water is only a couple inches from the bulbs, but I still dont have enough light.
You might be able to get away with one, but it wont be as healthy as it would under the sun, or metal halides. Also if it dies there goes money that you didnt have to have drained away. Either wait until it is more established and get a hardy anemone, though I dont think any are hardy ... Or get a MH Fixture.
Goodluck.

As others have said, I also wouldn't try to keep an anemone under anything but metal halide lighting. PC's just won't provide enough intensity. You may be able to keep one alive with sufficient VHO, excellent water quality and proper feedings, but with PC's - no way in my opinion.
I've tried it - it just does not work long term :nope:

Hiddenicon, you came to this board with a question. Six of us have given you an answer and a reason.
NO anemone yet. You still need lights and maturity.
However, since you want one so badly, if you keep asking enough ppl, someone will say go ahead.
LFS experts: Do they have SW knowledge? Do they have a SW tank that they have kept from start to now? Do they want to keep their job? Do they want to supersize your purchase to look good to the owner? Do they know the basics of each species in the store where they are employeed?
When was your book published? The more we learn about the marine animals the more we know that things we learned in the 70's, 80's, or even 90's is not the best way to care for our tanks.
