I have had nothing in my tank for about three weeks, I moved my fish to a QT tank. Is it ok to put my fish back in the tank? The fish are fully cured.

Howdy Red, I have read articles saying from 1week to 3weeks depends on what strain and on temps and what part of the cycle its in. If you can turn the temps up in the infected tank it will speed up the cycle . I believe that the post saying 4 weeks would be a certain thing that if your tank has no other fish in it that the parasite is dead. you may get buy with less at 4 weeks you bought the saftey and insurrance. I am a bit of a risk taker myself and think if you temp up you can do it in the 3 weeks you have. Good luck. I am fighting a ich prob myself Right now. I feel your pain sounds like your in the clear . Lawrence

ok, I put my fish back in today. Its been 27 days since they were in the main tank. I have been watching and I noticed my puffer has scrached on the rocks a few times (couple times in a few hours) Could this mean that the ich is not all gone? Someone said somthing about garlic may help? Any ideas?

ick has a 28 day cycle so just to be safe u should keep ur main tank fish free for like 32 days imo. if u put ur fish back in ur tank and there rubbing on the rocks again, they could have ick again which may set u back another month. right now, im battling ick, i have to leave my tank fish free till about may 23rd, and by then, the ick should be dead.
