how long does it take to ich to die??

how long does it take for ich to die in your show tank if there is not fish to atack??

my lfs told me that ich could still survive in the live rock even without fish...is this true?
if yes, how would we treat the tank with inverts and lr?

i am doing hyposalinity right now. is it safe after a month or 6 weeks? i planned on doin it after a month but after all this talk i am considering 6 weeks. is this a better plan or is a month good enough?? i also dont know how much longer my mandarin can make it in a hospital tank with no copepods. plz help sharks
