how long should i leave my lights on?

how long can/should i leave my lights on? Powercompacts, custom sea life 2x65 watt white/actinic.
I like to leave them on as much as i can because I love looking in the tank. Whats the max amount i can safley do? Right now im doing about 8.5-9 hrs. I hear 14 is soemtimes ok? What do u think of 12?

Mine or on about 11 hrs a day. I have the actinics go on a 1/2 hr before the 10,000K Daylight and 1/2 after as well. It's an easier transition for the fish and corals.

I do the same, leave my actinic on after and turn it on before. You get a little more time to view and its easier for the fish. My star also comes out in the morning while I still have just my actinic on.

dan i think i have the same set up that you have. are the bulbs on a single ballast or two separate one? mine are both on a single one, and so i just have the lights on 12 hrs a day (one 65w 10K and one super actinic 65w) if you have them on sep ballasts, i would have the blues on half to an hour before main lights, but a total of 12 hrs a day!
