How long should lettice stay in tank?

I put some romaine lettice in my tank yesterday and I am wonder how long it can be in the tank without becoming bad for the water? Most stuff I read says 24 hours but the pet store had a big piece in a tank I was observing for about a week. Another question - is it better to put the lettice in the freezer for 30 minutes so it's easy for the fish to eat or will it last longer in the tank if you don't freeze it?

I try not to leave anything un-natural in the tank for more than 24 hours. If the fish haven't shown interest in something for 24 hours, they're probably not going to. If they have showed interest, but not eaten it all, then just cut back on how much you feed them.

How about putting something nutrious in your tank like Nori. You know you have fish not rabbits right? :D

I agree strongly with DIATOM on this one...Seaweed Selects,or Nori, are both a million times better for your fish than Romain..Lettuce is about 90% water,,,And I don't think your fish need any more water..Plus there are litterally NO usefull vitamins in lettuce.Seaweed selects is loaded with vitamins.Plus you can presoak it with a vitamin/mineral suppliments(like ZOE) for added health...
