how long should my coral lights be on?

i just received some new corallife power compact lights and dont know how long they should be on.
they have a switch for both sets of lights:actinic and fluorescent
i dont have any corals in but plan on getting some soon
i had both actinic and fluorescent on my old fixture but it broke
and i had them on for 12-13 hours a day

You should be ok with 10-12 hours a day. When i had my pc's i have them on for 10 hours.

ok should i have the actinic on at night?
or any certain way?

Heres how i kept mine. I did it this way because i wanted to come home from work and enjoy the tank with the lights on....
Actinic ON - 1pm
Daylight ON - 2pm
Daylight OFF - 10pm
Actinic OFF - 11pm
Moonlights - 24/7
You want to try and give the fish a day to night feel.
