How long till the diatoms go away? take a look

How long until these diatoms go away? It has been like this for about four days.

I am just finishing up a cycle and have maybe 1/4 of that.

what are your tank prams? do you have any powerheads in the tank?

I have some in my tank as well, not quite that many, but enough to annoy me. I went and got some Turbo snails. They'll eat those diatoms!

I don't know about the Turbo's but Margerita Snails and Fighting Conches definitly do eat diatoms.....

I have two 1200 powerheads, and two output from my filters which are using 1200 powerheads in those. Do they go away by themselves? Or one day will they just be gone?

They do go away on their own. It depends on the parameters in your tank. My diatoms lasted probably 2 weeks. Stomatella snails LOVE diatoms.

As long as you are not using Tap Water. If you are you are fueling the diatoms with the silicates in the Tap Water.... Use Distilled or RO water for top offs and water changes...

Mine lasted about a week and a half but i didnt have nearly that much
