How Long???

I have heard a few differnt opinions so i thought that i would ask yall what you thought. How long should you leave your lights on. I have heard from 6 to 16 at different LFS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chip

Chip, glad to see you join our forum and hope you have a good experience here.
As to your question....that depends on the lighting you have and the type of tank you have set up. I can tell you that there is no single answer. Generally, people are within the 8-12 hr range. If you have a reef tank, you will want to aim for the 10-12 hr range. With other tanks, it is really up to you.

I have an automatic timer...they come on at noon and go off at 10 pm

ohhh comon, going that fast just wakes ya up a litlle. How about 140 around some corners.
I have a 15 inch 50 50 on my 12 gallon eclipse. I am trying to do a mini reef. I have the timer set for about 12 hours, so iguess i am in the range.
