How loud is your tank?

I have finally come towards the end of this tank setup and when I finally powered up the two pumps as of right now it seems quite loud...but maybe its because I have never had this before. I am running a reeflo hammerhead and a mag24. They are both below the tank. It seems like they are very very noisy. I mean its easy to hear them when I am just sitting in the room. Is this normal? What can I do to silence the area? Should i get sound proofing stuff? Any suggestions?

I have a mag 7 and is noisy when sitting flush on the bottom of my cabinet so I put a piece of foam under it to help cut back on vibration. Is your mag 24 in sump or plumbed inline to the sump

I had some of the underlayment left over after we had a floor laid in our sunroom. It is a vibration-deadening material, kind of like a dense foam, fairly thin. I was setting up the 110 and sump at the time, so I put 2 layers of the stuff under the sump and under the not-so SilentGiant, and it helped a little. Look at it like this - if your power goes out in the middle of the night, the sudden silence will wake you up

Actually i found some mass layer vinyl that i can wrap the pump in leaving corners for ventilation that has nearly eliminated all sound.

The HammerHead isn't exactly quite.....What size tank are you running with the Hammerhead??? You don't really want to cover that pump, because it is fan cooled.....I did find that I can eliminate some noise in that particular pump by using a rubber underlayment and bolting it down.....If you wan't something dead quite the Dart is the ticket.....I have to feel the thing everyday to make sure it's running......My Hammerhead isn't loud IMO.....My beckett skimmer sucking air is louder.....and that even has dual mufflers as well.

i've got three saltwater tanks in my room in i still end up sleeping. i got a emporer that about 8 years old thats pretty loud and does not do a very good job. I hate when my ph make the viberation sounds in my aquapod too

Yeah I originally had the dart, but it was not powerful enough for the closed loop system I had. I think the number of turns produced some high head so it was worthless. Trust me I wish I could use it. Someone mentioned temp in tank, i think the temp will be just fine, and I was given a way to wrap the pump that allowed for the proper ventilation. So I think that may be my best choice. The pump is already mounted with rubber in between its bolts. Its not a vibration of anything, it really just the pump. Again, you can see my post here to see what the CL looks like and you will know why a dart just does not cut it with the head pressure, it drops down to like 1200gph total. This is a 125 with a 55g sump. So Ineed more than 1200 turnover for the CL. I am achieving what I need with the hammerhead.
Maybe what I think is loud, really isn't. For example when the tv is on I can not tell that it is running...i know its very subjective.

its when your waching T.V. And you really don't pay attention on whats going around you like hearing your noisy tank

i am not sure your sentence makes sense..but ok. Lets try again, are you suggesting that if I can not hear my tank with tv on, it probably is not loud?

acrylic where are you running your hammerhead? Is it in the same room as your tank? If so, what do you think of the volume? Can you figure out a way to make the dart work where I couldn't? You can look at my post about my own take to see how the plumbing goes...but I don't think it is going to work.
