My question is this. I have a 30 gallon tank and i am wondering how many fish i can have. I am set up for a fish only tank with some LR in it. My cycle is just about over and I want to start planning for the fish i will buy.
These are the ones i wish to get, please tell me if any of them will not do well in my tank...
Yellow Tang
Clown
Lemon Peel
and the one that is half purple and half orange
Thanks for the imput :) ;)

The tang is probably not a good idea in a 30.
The clown will be fine.
The lemon peel and the bicolor angel (I think is what your talking about) will be fine also, but the two angels in the same tank may not get along. You may have to settle for one of the angels.

I think the fish you are thinking sound fine with the exception of the Tang. Tangs need more swimming room. I am not quite sure what fish you mean with regards to half yellow half orange? Which type of clownfish are you thinking of?

If the half purple half orange is a royal gramma, then yes good choice. If its a dottyback you may have some fish fights....
No to the tang...not enough room.

hey Beck,
No on the tang, and I've always read and been told that you wouldn't want more than one dwarf angel in an aquarium. However, recently one of the sharks listed out the contents of his 180, and he has four in there with no apparent problems. So, I would say tank size=territory size and so could be based on that...in a 30gal. probly not a good idea :( but maybe a smaller wrasse, gramma, or firefish as suggestable replacements.

Thanks guys for the imput... I was really hoping for that yellow tang!! Oh well... maybe someday i will progress to a larger tank!
Thanks also for the name of purple/orange fish.
What do you think about a sea horse???

I like the firefish better than the royal gramma.
Clowns are a great starter fish.
Don't start off with a sea horse. Way too much care, time, and not a good begginer fish at all.
Don't forget about a clean up crew. They are important later on, plus they are just as fun to watch as the fish are

Yellow Tang no... seahorse no...
You really need to do some more research on your fish. You should know the name of the fish and its 'personality' before you even consider adding it to your tank. We can't even tell you yes or no if you don't know what kind of fish you are talking about!

The purple/orange fish could be a bi color angel although they are more yellow then orange
It could be a royal gramma as listed above.
There are a few others also that have the same type color pattern

Ok, my input on the purple and orange fish....you are probably talking about a BICOLOR BLENNIE. Was it purple on the first half of his body and then an orangy color on the other half? If this is what you are talking about then I dont see a huge problem. I have a bicolor blennie and they are fun to watch. They swim a little bit, sit on rocks, and hide and peek their little heads out of the rock crevices.
I would say no on the tang until you get a bigger tank. They need lots of room to move and swim freely. Also, seahorses are very hard creatures to keep alive. They don't seem to do as well in a tank as they do in the wild. I would wait awhile and if you really want a seahorse then I would dedicate a tank for just seahorses. HTH :)
