How Many Fish In a 90 Gallon

I recently changed my 90 gallon to a FOWLR and will be soon doing a reef. I currently have 1 tomato clown, 1 yellow, 1 algae blenny, 1 queen angel & 1 sohal which I am going to get rid off because he out grew the tank. The yellow tang and queen re the biggest fish after the sohal but he doesn’t count because he will be gone soon. Those fish are about 4"at most. Now that I will have a peaceful environment what is the most fish I can have in the tank? I have 175lb of L.R. and some inverts too. The system can handle a massive bio load so I am not worried about that, just asking in reference to room. :happyfish

In reference to room, your done adding. If you have that much LR, your not going to get to much more in there, when those fish are full grown, you'll know why. They are going to need room to swim. Ive got a 150g and I only have 5 fish in there :) But the 5 are going to get large, it may seem like a bummer, but unless you wish to take some fish back after a year or so because of size, then you can fill with with whatever you wish at this point.

Well that's what I really want to do. I would buy smaller fish and always be trading them for others and some coral or inverts once they got too big. Like I am now doing with a Sohal Tang anyone interested? So to clarify things my question is rite now how many can I do. Before I changed the tank to live rock and changed the inhabitants had lions, triggers, puffer & groupers, with aggressive fish I learnt quickly that once they don't fit anymore get them out quick because they would beat the crap out of each other. The reason I changed the tank is because I don't want any fish fighting if they get a little too big, plus I will be doing a reef as soon as I can buy some lights.

I have never had a large angel but from what I have read they are not reef safe. Something to consider if you are switching to a reef.

I have all the inhabitants you are talking about, but I also have a 150g, they need room, you have to know the size of the adult fish before you put it in. Angels get very large also, unless you are putting in dwarf angels.

And a Queen is certainly not a dwarf. And as Rainfishy said, any variety of angels (dwarf or large) are not very reef friendly fish from all of what I have read.
You can however reduce your live rock load... if you want more fish. I think there is a threshold between amount of rock vs. fish. At some point, you can have too much rock and too little fish. It's a delicate balancing act. If you've added all that rock to increase your bio load... what good is it if you can't put the "load" in your tank. Aye?
If you want more fish. Give them more room. Trade some of your rock on for fish.

I am not getting rid of it yet though, because I am trying to work a deal to sell my 90 and get a 180. There is a store called Fish Expo in Brooklyn though that sells live rock at $8.00 a pound. A little pricey but it is live and is green and purple it really loks the pictures of live rock for sale online. Plus if you are buying allot they will give you a better price. I paid $6.00 a pund for mine, even though I could of got it for half of that online I think it was way worth it.
