how many fish

i have a 55 gallon tank im wondering how many fish can i put in it saftley and how do i know when the fish i have are to big for my tank

um ... is it a fish only or reef.... for fish only about 16 inches of fish i think is what it usually is... for a reef probley less like 10 inches...i think? im not a pro tho
