What is the rule for fish in a 12 gal. nano? If it is the same as a regular tank which I presume it is, what kind of fish would be best if I wanted a couple. 106 gph turn over, about 6 pounds lr, 20 ibs ls, and 24 watt lamp. Thanks-Alex

you could do a couple of clown gobies and a neon goby or a shrimp goby and get a pistol shrimp for them to pair up... or a pair of smaller clowns -

I say in the beginning 2-3 end 4-6 that will be tops.

6 would be pushing it ... but with a good clean-up crew and solid water change schedule you could do it!

Tahnks again. So, need to put a fish that will get about 2 inches or so in at first. Then later another fish that will get 2 to 3 inches as long as the tank is acting right. Thanks all. -Al

I would start with your bigger fish first ... say a percula and a clown goby where your two choices. I would get the clown and give it a month - and see what your water levels are - if you have another mini-cycle your tank will need some time to remain stable. So once your levels are all stable for two weeks then add the clown goby ....
does that anshwer your question?
