probably a couple SMALL fish. a red hawkfish would be a nice addition if you have no shrimp.

Oh we have a cleaner shrimp.I really love the Midas Blenny but my husband likes Banggai Cardianals. So would like to get those.I know the tailspot and the Midas Blenny's eat algea.Which is good.
What is the general rule of thumb. As far as inches of fish per gallon?

honestly, that seems to be up for debate as much as to which salt is best...
It is something like 1 gallon per 5" of fish. so that would be 11" worth of fish.
but... a lion would poop a lot more than a pink/blue spotted goby, but they are about the same length...
so...who knows. don't go overboard and stick with small fish

Any "rule" quote will start a war. IMO; you still have some room. The fish you're talking about would be fine. A dwarf angel would work too. Go slow, watch water params and just use common sense.

Yeah i've read so many conflicting ideas on it.Like 2in of fish per gallon(That would be 110in of fish
) or 1 in of fish for every 2 gallons( which would be 27in of fish).
When my current fish are all maximum size i will have 18.4in of fish. The 3 banggai and Midas would add another 14in.Which would be 31.3in of fish.So 1in of fish for every 1.69 gallon of water. If i included my sump it would be 1in of fish for every 2.23 gallon of water.
Doable??

i don't know if adding 3 cardinals would create a huge bioload all of a sudden...i'm assuming you want to try to breed them?
i also had my numbers backwards...for salt tanks it is supposedly 1" per 5 gallons. making the 11" of fish.
if you add fish and there's no measurable increase in ammonia and no major nitrate addition, then your biological filtration is keeping up with it.
problem is, when you add 3 fish at once, that's a possibiility of a bigger than normal bioload and your rock will take some time to adjust.
how much live rock do you have?

About the rock i'm not sure.I've added little bits at a time.Maybe 45-50lbs?The Banggai's i just want them as a schooling fish really.I heard they school good and it's best if you add them together. That way their not territorial.I was thinking 3 was a good amount for a school.

before adding any more fish you should probably double your live rock. you really want about 1.5-2lbs per gallon, if not more, for best filtration.
after you get the rock, then add a fish, let the biofilter adjust, then grab the three cardinals if you want them.
most likely, they will breed btw. you'll most likely get at least one female and one male, but even if you get 3 males, i believe they switch genders if needed.

Don't count on them schooling. I added 3 bangaii cardinals and two ganged up on one and beat the tar out it. They came from the same tank at the store too. I now have two that swim together and chase the "recovering" one around the tank. It isn't as bad now....5 months later, but the one larger one, probably a male, will chase it still. They stay on opposite sides of the tank.
