How many people have UV sterilizers?

How many people use a UV sterilizer and what kinds do you use? I'm wondering if they work as good as they say. What are your experiences?

I do not use one, but I am taking water technology classes (im gonna be one of those highly overpaid, underworked, government guys) and if its good enough for a water district to use, its good enough for your fish tank, IMO

I always thought they did more harm than good. They kill the natural phytoplankton a well established tank should be creating.

it does kill off some of the good stuff, but if you want water that has almost no bad stuff in it, its nice.

I used to use one, took it off the tank, only difference I noticed was less stuff got collected in my skimmer cup, I'm assuming it was everything the sterilizer was killing getting skimmed out. other than that I havnt noticed any difference except slightly lower power usage.
