How many powerheads does everyone have in there tank?

I have 1 powerhead in my tanks (its not a reef) and I am getting NO Coralline algea. Could this be the reason. How many could I have

I have 4 in my 120,each at diffrant levels in the corners and hooked up to a wave maker(power strip)works great....6 of them in my 220 same thing as the 120
