I have four in a 130 gallon. Two are large Haggens that are in the rear corners pointing to the middle of the fromt glass. The other two are more like small return pumps that sit under the other two. They point at each other across the rear glass, they are hooked together with a pvc pipe that has holes drilled in it pointing up the back glass(spray bar) This gives excelent water movement through and around my live rock.
Coraline algae does not just appear out of nowhere,it must be introduced into the tank. Go out and buy a good piece of rock that has as much purple, red,or green coraline on it and put it in front of your powerhead. This worked for me.
