How many powerheads should I have in a 20 g?

I have had my 20g reef tank up and running for a couple of years now. Here lately I am having a bad hair algae problem. A lot has to do with me slacking on my water changes. Another part might be because it's been about a year since I changed the bulbs.
I am starting to get caught up on my water changes and I have new bulbs to put in.
Right now I only have 1 powerhead in my tank to move the water around. I'm wondering if I should add a second one to help with the water movement. Would this also help with the algae problem?
The only problem is that there isn't a lot of room left to add a second powerhead.
Any thoughts appreciated!

How many powerheads isn't necessarily as important as their flow rate. If you have one big one, that may be enough, though two smaller ones that create different currents may be better.
