How many years? In your OPINION?

How many years, IN YOUR OPINION? In all of the highs and lows of your favorite professional team sport. Do you have to follow them to be considered a HARD CORE fanatic? I would say at least 15+ years would you say? For Instance I have had season tickets to the Heat since 2001 When we used to loose to the Knicks in nail biters and lose in the first round to Indiana. Just seems like so much BANDWAGON JUMPING lately! lol please add a comment!

Any time a bad team finally wins a championship, you just have to deal with it. I would bet a lot of people like the Heat just because of Wade and if I was a fan of Miami when Harold Minor was their best player then I guess that would kind of annoy me.
Nobody likes that guy whose favorite teams were the Cowboys, Yankees, and Bulls.

I dont think any amount of time can determine if someone is a hard core fan or not. If someone has season tickets to their respective teams to root for them, not just to hang out at the event like Cubs fans do at Wrigley, Id consider them a hard core fan.

I'm an Indians fan living in MA - and when i started liking Cleveland they were about as far away from an ALCS as possible.

I live in an area where there are no professional teams close. (Carolina Panthers 1+ hour, Atlanta 3 hours). Therefore, with no close teams and no ties to any other team, I make it a point to pull for the underdog, the classy team over the villians (Colts over Pats) or team who has had it bad over the last few years (Red Sox). Call me a bandwagon fan if you want, I enjoy the sport for sports sake more than the team playing.

fans. However, 60% suddenly lose interest in their team as soon as that franchise player becomes over-the-hill or leaves. Shaq may have one or two years left. Wade is still a kid, so unless someone offers him more money, you'll have him for another 10. After he leaves, and there's no one else to replace him, let's see how much of a Heat Hard Core Fan you'll be.

i would say knowledge of "your" teams counts just as much as ... i have been a Buccaneers fan since the 80's... i get the "so have you liked the Bucs since they won the SB?"... i will start rattling of past/present players, stats, coaches, W-L records from throughout the years and then i will get wow you really have been a fan for a long time... i really cant stand bandwagon jumping front runners!!! i live in a town of bandwagon jumpers since Boise State won the Fiesta Bowl... just 5 years ago anyone could get a ticket to a game... 10 years ago they couldnt give away tickets...

Been a Heat fan since Inaugeral(sp) season "87", and went to MANY MANY games since I moved to MIAMI in 92, just couldn't afford season tix till 2001.. Ive been through it all... so whats your point? whos your favorite team? Where are you from? Why is your personal profile completely EMPTY? Tell us a little about yourself? Im 38! p.s. get your facts straight, SHAQ and KOBE feud started in 2005, When Shaq signed with the Heat, NOT 2001.. In 2001 The Lakers with ONEAL are in the middle of thier last championship together with Kobe! YDF

years doesn't quanitfy, to be a hard core fan, your family has to have been fans since the team was created. Thus, I'm not a bandwagon cowboy fan, because I remember watching tom coach them with my dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. My great grandpa watched them from their first season. That is a true hard core fan.

Me? I've been a Spurs season ticket holder since '85. I've been through the Ice Man, the Admiral, and now the Duncanator. Unfortunately, my 'season tickets' have been reduced to a 10-game package, since the NBA and the owners have priced pretty much every die hard fan out of their seats. In '85, I paid $25 for a lower-level seat. The same type of seat is now $250. The Spurs have even gotten inventive with the way they price their cheap seats. You can get a half decent upper deck seat for a 'normal' game for around $20. But they sell the 'premier' games (LA, Houston, Dallas, Pheonix, etc.) at $50 for the same seat. Oh yeah, Miami's not even considered a 'premier' ticket (Sorry about that).
You want a true hard core sports fan? Try the Cheese Heads. I have a friend whose family has a 'legacy' season ticket for four seats. They've had them since the 60's. To even get a Packers season ticket, you have to be put on a waiting list. Right now, for the guy at the top of the list, he may have to wait 10 years before getting a chance to buy one. Someone from Green Bay can verify this, but to me, that's a true sports fan.

Just wanted to make sure people didnt think that i was saying ONLY season tickets are considered hard core fans. Most definately not.

That is really too bad that the normal hard working fan can't go to games anymore. (one of the beauties of baseball is that you can) I've eat lived and breathed the cowboys from as loong as I could remember. One of my earliest memories is asked my dad during the summer how come we aren't watching the cowboys on sunday anymore? A season is a hard thing for a 3 year old to grasp. But i've never been to a cowboys game, I never got to watch the triplits live.

I understand NBA, NHL and especially the NFL have to charge outrageous prices because they play so few games in a season compared ot baseball but Im not paying $60 just to get the worst seat in the 200 level (i.e. Bulls).

I've been with the Pistons since the Grant Hill days (teal jerseys... Nasty). I would show up at a game with my uncle and more or less sit wherever the hell I chose. Now, that's not quite the case

ive been a heat fan back when ron sikley (sp) used to play for them
also been a dolp-fan (and they have been crap for the last few years) since i was a little kid as well.

i am a season ticket holder for the pittsburgh penquins. the couple beside me has had the seat for at least 3 years now and don't even pay attention to the games...and they usually leave early. just because you have money to drop on tickets doesn't mean you are hard core.
