How much is a common coral frag?

It all depends...
Some frags sell for over $100. and are an incredible deal at that price.
However, if you spend $100. for a frag of Kenya tree then let me tell ya, I have some for sell.
What kind of frags are you looking to buy?
and what is the size? as well as health?
mounted or not?

WOW corky what frag are you buying that cost a hundred dollars. Any one ever told me a frag would cost a hundred bucks I would just laugh in their face, laugh to my car the ride home and while I slept. I have never paid any where near a hundred.
:hilarious A hundred dollars oh man that better be some never before seen, illegal, last one on earth coral if I’m asked to pay that much. Oh wait or did you buy it from tropiquarium in ocean twp? Then yeah a hundred bucks would constitute a 2inch stem frag of pink birds nest.

When you finally get past the newbie stages of mushrooms and leathers you'll enter into a whole new world of corals that come with a big price tag. Just check out some other sites and you'll wish you could only pay $100. for a frag. Obviously, these are not for the beginner unless you have unlimited funding for your tank. Some of these corals can easily go for over $1000 and $2000. a piece. Even this site has offered corals within this price range. Now with that being said, go back to $100 for a frag and it becomes a bargain.

IIRC this site had a Lord Howeness (sp?) for somehting like $1,200 not too long ago.
I think what would be acceptable for most mushrooms that are common types not of the ricordea type would be $5.00 a polyp or so.......rics are usually higher, and cannormally be found from 12-15 bucks on up to unheard of prices that are insane.........
I think , well not think, I know, what drives the price is the colors...If its in vogue its gonna be higher so expect to pay more for the hot oranges, highly florescening types, bright brilliant greens nd blues etc...............dull drab green and browns are cheaper.....

"newbie" comment was a general comment. The more time people spend in this hobby the more they are exposed to rare and different corals. These of course come with a high price tag. They are rare and colorful. That's what most of us will eventually want with our tanks. Kinda like being in any other hobby where one "collects" stuff. A high price for a vintage car seems foolish to someone who just wants four wheels to get them from point a to point b. Why do we do it? Among other reasons it gives us bragging rights.
This is just one example I was checking out this morning:

Ok, I’ll buy what you said. Some of those zoos are bright and fancy. I just can't see spending that much. My sprite zoos (lemon lime) cost me twenty bucks for 15 polyps same with my fire and ice polyps plus thirty five bucks for shipping. My ppe cost me thirty bucks for ten polyps, So I guess i was just not reading/understanding what you were posting. I still how ever will stick to my guns and say if I can get a couple of Armageddon zoo for a fraction of the price, I’ll do that. instead of paying out the nose for a colony. I have seen them Armageddon zoos and they are nice.

If your patient and check with fellow reefers, go to frag swaps etc you dont have to pay a high price for the so called super colorful pieces.
The most I paid for any of these was $20.00

Very nice frags, and good buy. But corky has a point that I was not following. I just kind of saw his location and figured I would drop a nuke comment about a lfs I’m sure he’s been to too. Some of the mother colony of arms and magma heads are on the high side, and rightfully so, i just can justify spending a G Note on a parent when I can get a frag for 20-30 bucks and make a parent colony, flip that colony and trade or sell them for pennies on the dollar to fellow reefers. In reality I was expecting a comment like a pink birds nest or a colony of rainbow bright zoos (god I hated that name for those zoos, so embarrassing when people and friends would ask what they were called)
