Hi. I have a 46 gal tank and I added 2 Ocellaris clowns 1 yr ago. The smaller of the 2 jumped out of my tank and I replaced it w/ a Black and White Ocellaris. I bought the new one about 3-4 days ago.
The new clown is smaller than my current clown, but larger than the previous one.
They seemed to get along fine. They sleep together every night, adn spend some time swimming together during the day. Today I fed my tank (for the 2nd time since getting 2nd clown), and my Orange (older and larger) clown bit the fin of the B&W. She held the fin in her mouth for a good 5-7 seconds. The B&W seems fine, but it looked a little injured for a few minutes. Now it uses it's fin normally.
I know it's not unusual for the female to nip at or even slightly hurt the male, but how do I know if it's too much?
I've never seen them fight like that, and they do'nt seem to have too many problems.
Is this normal behavior? Where do draw the line between normal aggression between sexes, and dangerous aggression?
Thanks.
