In my area, Live rock goes for about $7.50 per pound and Live sand (Arganite I think its called) goes for $20-25 per 25# bag.
Most recommend about a 4" layer of sand. Live rock is then added. I'm guessing here a little bit on the rock but I'd say about 50-75 pounds.

Depends on where you get the stuff. You'll probably be looking at somewhere in the area of 100-150lbs of sand. My lfs sells it for a dollar a pound, but it can be had for cheaper online. LR... most people recommend 1-2lbs per gallon for a good reef tank. LR at my lfs goes for about $7/lb, but again, you can get it cheaper online.
At LFS prices...
125lbs LS @ $1/lb = $125
1.5lbs/gallon = 75lbs of LR
75lbs LR @ $7/lb = $525
$525(LR) + $125(LS) = $650.

Try this:

This will help you figure out how much sand you will need.

you may want to use base rock, which tends to cost less but at some time will become live rock as well anyways...depending on what kind of things you put in your tank, you may want to put the rock on the glass & palce sand around as burrowing critters may dig underneath & dislodge the LR
