Depends on if you mean buying LS or seeding your dead sand. One bag of LS will seed a tank if just how much sand in general then one 40 lb bag will generaly give you around one inch of sand in a 6 ft tank. Depends on how much rock is on the bottom that takes up space, ect. too.

This site has a calculator for figuring out the amount of sand required. Just input the dimensions of your tank and input the desired sand depth. That will give you the total amount of sand. Doesn't have to be all LS. You could go with a 25-75 mix or 50-50, whatever your pockets can stand.

I used 220 pounds in my 125 and it's pretty deep.

I used about 800lbs for a 6 inch sand bed in my 210.
The calculator on this site (look under live sand) will be pretty accurate.

As a rule of thumb as I was told on this site You will want anywhere from 3 to 6 inch base IE sand or Agronate for the tank. And it is a goot Idea to have the sand Higher in the back. But that is just what I was told.
