How much sand is needed?

I am getting ready to start my 125gal tank, decided to go with sand(not crushed coral). How much sand will be sufficiant? about 5-6 inches I have been told. How much of that can be non-live, I know the more live sand the better. Or should I just get all live? What is the best critters to clean the sand? Cukes, crabs, shrimp??

i do believe cuke's are hard to keep ? and prob not best to be cycling with

the depth of the sand should be between 2-4 inches
as far as the amount of live sand, the more the better. but if you are on a budget, you can mix the dead sand with the live sand, and over time all the sand will be live sand.
for sand shifters, look at cukes and conchs are both good choices.
