how often to feed a mixed tank

I am using the book, Marine Fishes by Michael Scott (http://www.amazon.com/PocketExpert-G.../dp/1890087386, to get suggestions about feeding my fish.
In some cases, the fish require 4 feedings per day (Anthias for example). In others, only 1 feeding per day is needed.
How do you balance different feeding schedules, food types, etc.?

I feed once a day using foods that are good for everyone. Mix up the variety to make sure everyone is covered, such as cyclopeez, mysis, homemade blends, etc. I do sometimes give the tangs algea sheets more than once a day, but otherwise, tank gets food once per day, and not more than can disapear within 3-5 minutes (except cyclopeez which can float around a little longer).

I feed my tank three times a week. This includes fish, and LPS. During the other days the fish eat off the rocks, I have a heathly population of pods. If you feed to much you'll have problems with nitrites, amm, nitriates not to mention hair algae.

along with about 20 other things I feed them.
