How often do you all feed your fish? I was feeding one a day in the evening but I have started to feed two time a day now. Once in the morning and again in the evening.

I do not let much hit the bottom and my fish also graze all day. I use pellets and frozen marine cuisine. I have 5 Damsel, 2 clowns, 1 yellow tank, 1 flame angel and a Mandarin dragonet.
My cleanup crew is as follows:
10 turbo snails
1 large brittle star
1 orange star
1 Scarlet crab
1 queen conch
I also have 10 blue legged crabs on there way

every-other day. How do you stop it from hitting bottom? Ive been feeding a home-made mix of squid, clam, brine, mycid, algea, and garlic but its in frozen form. So I scrape it off, thaw it and dimp it in but its usually still opretty big pieces that fall right to the bottom. The crabs go nuts for it though...

every other day they also eat off teh 250 #'s of live rock it help me get my Nitrates down from when I use to feed everyday. Most people that feed every day have higher Nitrates and fish are fine to be fed every other day.

The pellets I use do not sink to the bottom right away. They float around the fish usually gets most of them way before they hit the bottom. The frozen stuff I thought in a cup of aquarium water before putting in this causes it to float around awhile before hitting the bottom.

So that is why I can not get my nitrates bellow 20! What is your nitrate level? I would like to try to get mine under 10 if possable.

Cut back feeding to every other day and they will come down I had same problem keeping it under 20 they are now 5. This does not happen over night but it will come down slowly. You also want to do regular water changes and maybe one large one to bring down a bit to start.

Thanks jjlittle I will try that. I do water changes 20% about every 3-4 weeks. Just did one last weekend. I will do another one this weekend and cut feeding back to every other day.

No to get off the topic, but I am ready to stock my tank and was debating returning the three damsels to the LFS. I want clowns, tang and an angel....How do they get along?
