How 'old' are your fish?

Just wondering how long people have had their fish. What would you say the average lifespan is for these guys in captivity?
Do most people find that they have their fish less than a year or are we talking years and years?

i have kept fish anywhere from a year up to five years before i got rid of them, just depends on water quality and diet. i think fish adapt well to the aquarium if you keep the stress down.

I have all my original fish that I started out with, except for the ebili angel that died from ich. So that makes my oldest 16 months! But, I expect to keep them for many, many years. I know that lionfish (for example) can live to be 40. There is an aquarium in Nancy, France that has several fish in their 20's.....angels, tangs and I think clownfish.

I look forward to having fish grow to a nice mature age. I was inspired and impressed by an outhor in one of the fish magazines who claims to have a tomato clown that ia 18 years old! :D

we just had a yellow tang pass a few days ago who was almost 16 or so as far as we know. we had him 14 of those years and was in a fish lab at UK for atleast a year so they live very long healthy lives if taken vare of. Of course all species are different I'm sure.

I have a yellow tang and blue devil damsel that I have had for about six years and they are going strong I am sure I have many more years with them. I also have a few corals that are about the same age.

My oldest fish is my True perc clown (first fish I got) and it is around 8 months now. In the 5 months I've been keeping saltwater I have yet to lose a fish and even defeated a nasty onslaught of ich. My new problem however is HLLE with my tangs. Good Luck to all.
