How should I place fans in tank?

I just installed 8 VHO, URI bulbs with 2 icecap 660's. I bought a couple fans,,, I can not mount them in the canopy they will be right outside on a shelf,, should they blow air inside or suck the air out of the canopy. Thanks, Justin

I second the motion from nolonfinwe.... More direct flow across the bulbs that way..

I really don't think it matters all that much - but does matter depending on the type of canopy style you have.
One key is to try and pull the warm/hot air up away from the water, and get it out of the enclosed area - IMO.
But whatever works for you is what works for you.

I'm strongly recommend pulling hot air out.
Look on the back of your computer. There is atleast 1 fan inside the power supply. There is a reason behind it. :)

Most computers have a fan in the front as well, that pulls air in. (most WELL made computers).
On my VHO hood, after adding the extra 2 VHO bulbs, my tank temp went up 5 degrees. I put 2 computer case fans hooked to an AT power supply on a timer-- they turn on 1/2 hour after lights go on, and off 1/2 hour after lights go off. I placed them both in the back, and closed off all other outlets so that the air is forced thru.
Oh- make sure to place them ABOVE the water...
:D
