How smart are wrasses?

I have a lunar wrasse that I haven't seen since this morning. I just put live rock in my tank totaly re did the rockwork. All the other fish have come back out. But I have yet to see the wrasse. Are they smart enough to not get caught under a rock? Or do I need to undo everything to find him.
In the past I've totally removed all the rocks and have been unable to find him. Only to have him reappear a few minutes later but not all day.

I just picked up a Red Coris Wrasse about a mon th ago or so, and also changed around my rock. I bought him on a Monday evening and didn't see him until Friday afternoon. I'm not sure how he was eating, but he obviously survived. When i did purchase him, he was only about 1.5 inches long.

So he wasn't smart enough to stay out of the way. He got himself into a rock. Stayed in that rock as I put it in a bucket. Filled up 3 buckets with live rock. Then filled them up with water. Set up the new live rock in the tank. Then set up the live rock in my sump from the buckets. He finally came out of the rock tonight, In a totally different tank.
