How To Deal With Carpeting?

So we're moving next week...or is it 2 weeks from now? I don't even know. I'm so crazed.
But that's not the point. I am insane right now, you'll have to excuse me.
Here's my issue; We have wood floors in our current apartment, and so far spills/splashing from the tank has pretty much been a non-issue.
The place we're moving to has wall-to-wall carpeting, and I'm HORRIFIED to think of what salt water would do to carpeting.
I see in a lot of pix people have posted that some of your tanks are on carpeted floors, or have couches/etc right infront of the display.
How do you all prevent and deal with spillage? Any products you would reccomend using if salt-water happens to get on fabric/carpeting?
THANK YOU for laying to rest at least this ONE thing that's making me crazy

I Had A Power Outage Once And Sump Overflowed. I Ised A Wet/dry Shop Vac. And Sucked It Up. I Then Put A Fan On The Area For Like 2 Days. It Was Like 20-30 Gallons Of Pure Saltwater. No Stains Plus When You Move You Can Just Get A Carpet Cleaner And Take Care Of Anny Salt Creepage On The Carpet.....jmo

Invest in a carpet cleaner. I have one! well it is my mothers but works well if you have to do work and water comes out for some odd reason.
