hey guys, i have a pink tipped anemone and today i tried to feed it some chopped shrimp and wen i squeezed a piece of shrimp on a chopstick and put it in the water it always is too stuck on the chopstick for the anemone to pull off or the shrimp just falls off the chopstick and floats to the ground. wat other utensils can i use to feed my anemone? thanks
p.s. my clowny snatching the shrimps away from the anemone.

Normally I just feed my anemone something like frozen mysis shrimp, and I just take a small piece in my fingers and drop it down by the mouth, and the anemone will bring it in on its own. But if you just got it and it doesnt want to eat solid food for a while dont stress, it will sustain itself on the lights. It might just need a few days to get settled. As for the clown, try feeding the anemone at the same time as the fish so they are busy eating and leave it alone.

Chop things small enough to fit into a turkey baster and gently squeeze the food from it into the anemones tenticals.

My clown feeds mine, just a thought.. Maybee get one.. They help eachother out amazingly... But any rate.. I actually feed mine cooked cocktail shrimp.. I cut a piece off about a half inch in size. Then put my hand in the tank. Get as close to the anenome as possible and then kinda drop it at him... His tenacles grab it and pull it in.. No harm to you... And besides,, from what I read these as small as they are people can hardly feel thier sting... I hear its just like an irritation of sorts.. Not like a "WACK and OUCH"... Just like ah this iches.....But again, thats what I read... And hey, I don't intend on finding out either... NO way...
Another thing to condider are long tongs.. They actually sell fish feeding tongs that are like 2 -3 feet long and plastic I think.. Look into that as well....

I'd like to point out that clownfish don't actually think I'll feed this to my anmeone. The are selfishly thinking that they will drop food here for themselves later. In this way the are inadvertantly feeding the anemone.
A half inch is really very large, depending on how wide also, this would mean that it would take an anemone alot longer to digest something that large and you may wind up with waste around the anemone from it expelling. Better to cut them up until they are no larger than the size of a pencil eraser at the end of a pencil. Then the anemone could digest it with much greater efficiancy.

Generaly the skin on ur fingers is tough enough to not be stung buy the anenome. i just place a bit of food in its tenticals with my fingers.
Btw it will sting more sensitive parts of the body, like ur fore arm or wrist so be carefull, some ppl also get allergic reaction so keep that in mind.
good luck :happyfish

Yeah, I have been "stung" by several types of anemone. It has never hurt wherever I get stung. It just feels like the anemone is sticky. Once a carpet got my hand to tingle for a couple secs, but it felt more cool than anything...
